- Notes: Tan or mustard yellow, antler like, erect irregular cylinders arising from the sandy or rubble bottom, single or in groups. There is a large portion buried under the substratum. Formerly placed under genus Spheciospongia, and also known erroneously as Xestospongia tierneyi (see Wiedenmayer, 1977 and Vicente et al., 1991).
