Notes: Also known as Holopsamma helwigi de Laubenfels, 1936. Soft pinkish masses with or without branches; oscules scattered and usually elevated on volcano-like mounds; skin is creamy-white and contrasts with the strong orange of the interior tissue. When handled it releases abundant mucus. Bahamas populations do not have microsclere spicules. Spicules of Florida photos were not examined.
