Notes: The shape ranges from small, cavity filling, to medium-size globular, to large barrel-shaped; it is characterized by having a central highly collared and transparent oscule, and erect fistules densely scattered throughout the surface. Tissue color of oscule and fistules is dark brown. The remaining surface is heavily fouled with crustose, filamentous and flesy algae and sometimes other sessile invertebrates. In the third edition of this guide this species was placed under genus Oceanapia of the order Haplosclerida, but it was now changed to Coelocarteria of the order Poecilosclerida following the revision by Leal et al. (2023).
